Traditional Metal Braces
Metal braces (stainless steel) are the most popular type of braces used throughout the country. If you choose metal braces for your treatment plan, Reising Orthodontics utilizes the most comfortable, efficient, and technologically advanced metal braces available.
Many patients enjoy having different colors placed on their braces as a means of personal expression and fun. Because it's so simple to change the colors, feel free to swap them at every visit. We have many different colors to choose from!

Clarity™ (Clear or Ceramic braces)
With all the cosmetic innovations available in orthodontics, the most effective, efficient, and least expensive means of accomplishing "esthetic" comprehensive orthodontics for adults or children is via ceramic (porcelain) brackets. Because they are made of tooth colored ceramic material, these brackets are highly esthetic but function just as well as the traditional metal braces. Used in conjunction with precision bracket positioning (ezBond), treatment with ceramic brackets offers the best combination of efficiency, effectiveness, and esthetics.

OrthoCure™ (Lingual Braces)
Lingual braces are placed behind the teeth, creating a more aesthetically pleasing effect. Because the brackets and archwire are actually placed on the back of your teeth, they are virtually invisable, allowing you to retain your normal appearance for the duration of your treatment.
Dr. Reising exclusively offers OrthoCure, a new system with that offers customized lingual braces.

Elastics (Rubber Bands)
Elastics (rubber bands) are a vital part of treatment and are also contingent upon patient compliance. They add extra pressure to the braces to help move the teeth. Generally worn at all times (excluding eating and brushing your teeth), rubber bands should be changed at least once a day. They come in various sizes as they are each used for a specific purpose. We will provide you with the appropriate size.
You should always carry extra rubber bands with you in the event one breaks. If you run out, please call us immediately and we will supply you with more.
It is important to wear them consistently or treatment setbacks may occur. If only one day is missed, it could cause your teeth to shift back to their original position!

Rapid Palatal Expander (RPE or Expander)
Attached to the upper molars through bonding or by cemented bands, the Rapid Palatal Expander is an orthodontic device used to create a wider space in the upper jaw. It is typically used when the upper jaw is too narrow for the lower jaw or when the upper teeth are crowded or blocked out of the dental arch.
When patients are still growing, their connective tissue between the left and right halves of their upper jaw is very responsive to expansion. By simply activating the expander through turning a screw in the center, with a special key we provide, gradual outward pressure is placed on the left and right halves of the upper jaw. This pressure causes an increased amount of bone to grow between the right and left halves of the jaw, ultimately resulting in an increased width.
